Evelyn C. Green | 77

October 23, 1946 - September 30, 2024

Evelyn C. Green, 77, of Wake Forest, NC and formerly of Berwind Street, St. Marys, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.

She was born October 23, 1946 in Ridgway, daughter of the late William F. and Sara Mitchell Platt. She was a lifelong resident of the area before moving to North Carolina to be closer with her son, Keith. Evelyn was a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1964. She was employed at Keystone Carbon and later retired from Penn Highlands Elk after twenty nine years with the hospital.

On August 7, 1971, in St. Marys, she married the late Eugene “Tiger” H. Green, who preceded her in death on August 31, 2019.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Keith Green (Kelly) of Wake Forest, NC; her two grandchildren, Natalie and Aaron; sisters: Bonnie Caggiano (Victor) of Erie and Naomi Pritchett (Victor) of Massachusetts; a brother, William Platt (Mary) of Ridgway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Farquhar.

Evelyn’s number one priority was her family and her grandchildren. She took great pride in taking care of them and her home.

A funeral service for Evelyn will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 12:00PM, with the Rev. Ann Foor officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning, from 10:30AM until the time of the service.

    Your mother was a saint, and kept us going on nights. I will miss her.

  2. Evelyn fed many of us on the night shift at the hospital for many years. We had many good conversations. I have thought of her fondly when looking back.
