Janet E. Miller, 85, a resident of Sena Kean Manor and formerly of 330 Coal Hollow Road, Kersey, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Sena Kean Manor.
She was born July 18, 1938 in Sterling Run, daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel Spalti Hicks. She was a lifelong resident of the area, attended Benezette Schools, and was formerly employed at Powder Metal Products, Elk Regional Hospital, and Elk Haven Nursing Home.
On July 15, 1961, in Kersey United Methodist Church, Janet married the late John Richard Miller, who preceded her in death on December 14, 2007.
Janet is survived by her children, Melody Schlegel (Bruce) and John Miller (Sandy); two grandchildren, Amy and Brian; one great-grandson, Leland Hildersheim; a loving niece, with whom she lived for a few years, Lawanda Knauer (Noah); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carrie Hildersheim; and her siblings: Naomi Klancer, Lois Peterson, Dennis Hicks, and Harlan Hicks. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Janet was a member of the Toby Methodist Church and enjoyed the area in which she lived, especially going up on the hill on which she grew up. She enjoyed her time shopping, camping, doing word search puzzles, and needlepoint.
A funeral service for Janet will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00AM. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
A visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 9:00AM until the time of service.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.
Events
Janet and I attended the Toby United Methodist Church. For ten years I lived within a few miles from where Janet was born and raised. She always enjoyed talking with me about “the hill” and who lived there. If she had been able I believe she would have moved back there in a heart beat. I pray the Lord allows here to visit “the hill.” Rest in Peace.
I loved visiting Aunt Janet growing up when she lived in Kersey. She reminded me so much of my Dad. She loved going up on the hill and having her camper there. May she have an endless supply of time now on that hill. You’re going to be so missed. Love you Aunt Janet!
I remember as a teenager going to Aunt Janet’s house with my gramma and making homemade fresh pasta noodles. During covid, she stayed with me for a little while. She absolutely loved animals and my cats were no exception. We would play classic country song quiz and do her word search books. She sure liked her sweets. May you get an endless supply now.
