Sister M. Victoria “Lorenzia” Marconi, OSB, 97, of St. Scholastic Monastery in Chicago, IL, and formerly of St. Joseph’s Convent in St. Marys, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020, in Chicago.
She was born December 17, 1922, in St. Marys, daughter of the late John and Catherine Ortenzi Marconi, Sr. Sister Victoria was schooled by the Benedictine Sisters at Sacred Heart Elementary School and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova in 1957.
Sister Victoria professed her vow in 1945 and was accepted three years later. She celebrated her 75th Anniversary as a Benedictine Sister on July 11, 2020 at St. Scholastic Monastery.
Sister Victoria taught primary grades at the parish schools in St. Marys, Lucinda, Kersey, Warren, and Kane. She served as a former Sub Prioress at the St. Joseph’s Monastery in St. Marys. After 50 years of teaching, she devoted her time to helping others working at the religious store, doing retreats, and Lunch with the Lord. Her last Lunch with the Lord was in January 2014. Upon closing of the St. Joseph’s Convent in 2014, Sister transferred to St. Scholastic Monastery in Chicago.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Louise Reuscher of St. Marys; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Elizabeth Mascuilli, Loretta Langton, and in childhood, Theresa Marconi; and by her brother, John Marconi, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Monastery Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning, from 9:00 until 10:30 AM.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Elk County Catholic School System, 600 Maurus Street, St. Marys, PA 15857; the St. Joseph Catholic School, 608 Pennsylvania Avenue, Warren, PA 16365; or to the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.

It is sorrow and joy that fills my heart at the passing of Sr. Victoria or “Vickie” as I loved to call her. As a Sister and friend she taught me much by her loving example. Her last card was so full of love. I will always remember beautiful moments with her and her genuine smile. My sympathy to you and welcome, dear Vickie, into the arms of your beloved, Jesus.

My thoughts and prayers to the family of Sister Victoria. She was a wonderful person and a good friend to my Mother (Doris Fritz Auman). I am very proud to have been named after her.
Sister Victoria exemplified the Christian spirit.
To me, she was a living saint who will always remain in my soul.
I felt blessed to have the opportunity to produce a film about her and her lessons of trust in God, community service, respect for others.
Sister Victoria was my first and second grade teacher. She inspired me to become a teacher. I treasure all of my grade school memories – “Jimmy Crack Corn,” making rosaries out of clay, and so many others. She kept in contact through Christmas cards over the many years. She was a treasure to all. I will miss her.

Sr. Victoria was a wonderful teacher who cared deeply for her students. I have very fond memories of my first year in school with her as my teacher. She made a difference for many children. Rest in peace, Sr. Victoria.
Dear Family of Sister Victoria, Sister was a Good Friend to my family when she was in Warren, PA at St. Joseph’s Parish. My parents attended daily Mass and became friends with Sister Victoria. Words can’t express how we felt about Sister Victoria. She devoted her life to Our Lord, and what a great life she had. I just think of the Many people’s lives she touched during her time on earth. Now she is in Her Heavenly Home. What JOY there must have been in Heaven when she arrived!! I can just see the huge Hug Our Lord gave her as he said, “Well done my Good and Faithful Servant “. Sending Love and Prayers to her Family at this difficult time. God Bless You All.

Our hearts are broken over the news about Sr. Victoria. It marks the end of a long, 60 plus years of friendship and love. She was my second mother and I have so many wonderful memories of her.
My husband and I will never forget her or our visits to St. Marys and Chicago.
Know that you are in our prayers and we look forward to a future visit to St. Marys when covid is a “thing of the past.”

Sister Victoria will be sadly missed by all who attended Sacred Heart School. She was a loving, caring, wonderful teacher who always had time for the children in her care. What a privilege it is for me to have been part of her life. Sweet childhood memories!
I WILL MISS ALL THE LETTERS OF ENCOURGAGEMENT AND LOVE MY DEAR COUSIN WOULD WRITE TO ME EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE AND THE LOVELY POEMS AND ART. SHE WAS TRULY A WONDERFUL LADY, AND I KNOW SHE IS ENJOYING HER NEW HOME WITH HER SAVIOUR, REST DEARY LADY IN HIS ARMS.
