Thomas A. Newman, 80, of 1167 East Eschbach Road, St. Marys, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 8, 1940, in DuBois, son of the late Anthony and Mary Duda Newman. He had been a resident of St. Marys since 1966, and was a retired teacher, retiring from the St. Marys Area Middle School in 2001.
On August 27, 1966, in the Queen of the World Church, Tom married Maureen E. Neubert, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Suzanne Newman of St. Marys; and by three sons: Thomas W. Newman of St. Marys; Mark A. Newman and his wife Shanti of Charlotte, NC; and Timothy P. Newman of Mt. Lebanon, PA.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Newman; and by three brothers: William, Robert, and John Newman. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Visitation will be held privately at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the Elk County Catholic School System, 600 Maurus Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.
Mr. Newman was a fantastic, inspirational social studies teacher for very impressionable junior high grade students. He was very skillful in combining history with current events. I tried to incorporate some of his successful teaching examples in my own teaching career. May he rest in peace and his family be consoled by knowing how many young lives he influenced. May God hold all of you in his loving arms.
