Jenny Samick, 96, of 169 Queens Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the home of her son at 339 South Ridge Road, St. Marys, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 19, 1924, in Clearfield, daughter of the late Pasquale and Angela Rizzo Caruso. Jenny was raised in Tyler, PA and graduated from Huston Township School before moving to St. Marys after marriage. She worked at Sylvania Electric in Emporium and St. Marys for over 40 years, retiring in 1986.
On February 18, 1950, in St. Marys, Jenny married Paul E. “Steve” Samick, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1986.
She is survived by her son, Steve R. Samick and his wife Joyce of St. Marys; two step-children: Jason Decker (Meghan) of Gibsonia, PA and Kevin Decker (Leah) of Lansing, MI; three step-great-grandchildren: Elliott, Norman, and Anna Decker; a sister, Helena Wallace of DuBois; and by a brother, James Caruso and his wife Gert of St. Marys.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jenny was preceded in death by four sisters: Philomena Veltre, Edith Caruso, Mary Snelick, and Virginia Murphy; and by five brothers: Joseph, Anthony, Dominic “Rob”, Samuel, and Richard Caruso.
Jenny was a member of the Queen of the World Church, St. Anne’s Society, and the Quarter Century Club of Sylvania. After retirement, Jenny enjoyed traveling the world with her sister and shopping, but most of all, she enjoyed going out for dinner with Steve and Joyce.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, January 11, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc., Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857.

Aunt Jenny was a big part of many happy memories. I will always remember wonderful shopping trips, great family parties and her kind generosity. I will never forget her. My deepest sympathy to Steve and Joyce, and the rest of her dear family.
