Elda A. Caimi | 98

April 16, 1922 - January 2, 2021

Elda A. Caimi, 98, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of Fairview Road, Kersey, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at the Pinecrest Manor.

She was born April 16, 1922, in Kersey, daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Fannucci Zani.  Elda was a lifelong resident of the area.  She spent most of her life working in the family-owned tavern in Toby, PA, known at the time for their meatball sandwiches.  Elda was a member of the St. Boniface Church.

On June 24, 1944, in the Guardian Angels Church, Elda married Celestino “Jiggs” Caimi, who preceded her in death on August 15, 1988.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Lynnette Chiesa, of Pittsburgh; a great-grandson, Michael Chiesa, of Kersey; a son-in-law, Bruce Shuttleworth, of Kersey; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elda was preceded in death by her daughter, Annette Caimi Shuttleworth; and by three brothers: Harry J. Zani, Lido Giovacchini, and Dr. Ardino Giovacchini.

Elda enjoyed cooking and baking.  She took great care of her residence especially her lawn.  In the past several years, after considerable initial reluctance, Elda relocated to Pinecrest Manor.  There she found a welcome and caring staff that made her continued existence at her new residence quite enjoyable.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

A Private Visitation will be held in the St. Boniface Church Gathering Space for the family.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846 or to the Pinecrest Manor, 763 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA  15857.
