Geraldine B. Chalot | 100

February 28, 1920 - February 4, 2021

Geraldine B. Chalot, 100, a resident of Elk Haven Nursing Home and formerly of 170 Neubert Street, St. Marys, passed away, Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Elk Haven, after a brief illness.

She was born February 28, 1920, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Leonard and Matilda Neubert Henry. Geraldine was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1938. She was a retired employee of Sylvania in Emporium, retiring in 1982 after 35 years of service.

Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Phylis Haberberger and her husband Dennis of St. Marys; her son, Leonard E. Chalot of St. Marys; six grandchildren; and by six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen Weidow and Eugenia Thom; and by her brother, Patrick Henry. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Geraldine was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and St. Anne’s Society. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, which she truly loved. As part of the CD of A, she headed the Elk Haven Christmas Card Fund. She also organized the monthly birthday parties and Bingo at Elk Haven for many years. Geraldine earned her College of Regents for the Moose Club and volunteered for various organizations in the community.

There will be no visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Michael Gabler, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
