Grant L. Reiter, 77, of 316 Old Kersey Road, Kersey, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, following a brief illness.
He was born September 19, 1943, at his home in Penfield, son of the late Virgil and Genevieve Kalgren Reiter. Grant was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1961. He was a retired employee of Sylvania, retiring in 2000 after 35 years of service.
On March 25, 1995, in the St. Agnes Episcopal Church in St. Marys, Grant married Janet E. Heyde, who survives. Together, they enjoyed almost 26 years of marriage.
Also surviving is his daughter, Renee’ R. Boburka and her husband James of Bethlehem, PA; two sons: Brian D. Reiter and his wife Leah of Kersey; and Randal A. Reiter of St. Marys; eight grandchildren: Grace, Katelyn, and Noelle Boburka; Kara, Mitchell, and Lindsey Reiter; and Mykalia and Madisyn Reiter; and by a brother, Gordon Reiter and his wife Carol of Kersey. Also surviving are four step-children: Arlene Wehler, Dawn Kagiavas and her husband Gary, Joseph Wehler and his wife Mary Lou, and Yvonne Wehler; six step-grandchildren: Kaylee Kagiavas, Sierra Pistner, Alexa Pistner, Skylar Yanochko, Nate Yanochko, and Ella Wehler; a sister-in-law, Lois Reiter of San Diego, CA; and by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Grant is preceded in death by a brother, Walter “Snood” Reiter.
Grant was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a clerk at the U.S. Naval Station in Bermuda. He greatly enjoyed working with his hands, and some of his most proud accomplishments included turning his family homestead in Penfield into his camp and rebuilding the house in Kersey where he grew up. He also enjoyed rebuilding classic cars with his two sons. In his earlier years, he was an avid outdoorsman and spent many hours hunting and fishing. Each summer, he could be found tending his large blueberry patch on the Old Kersey Road. Family was everything to him, and he greatly enjoyed spending time with loved ones. Grant was a truly wonderful man, and these words were frequently used when describing him: loving, stable, strong, kind, patient, and supportive.
Funeral and committal services will be held privately at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Laurel Run Cemetery in Penfield.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Grant was all the things described in his obituary. I worked with Grant for several years at Sylvania. He was an all-around great guy and a pleasure to work with. My sympathy to Janet and all his family.
